I find this design a little dark, maybe more ideal for Halloween, but the features are quite interesting. After playing the previous titles in this series, I had to try the new addition and this is my review:

Theme & Design

Hexbreaker 3 uses the witch theme, and this is what we had on the previous intitles.

For the symbols, I got to work with things associated with the dark world which are voodoo dolls, ravens, black cats, potions, number 13, low-value Royals, and a few more creepy images.

Although I did not find the graphics to be attractive, they still mage to do their job perfectly, and their dark appearance perfectly blends well with the theme.

Conclusion

Hexbreaker 3 is an enjoyable slot game, and especially for players who enjoy the scary genre of games.

The long list of features is great, but I did come across a few that are a little too complex.

When it comes to payout, the slot is accommodative to all levels of players, but IGT would have done better with clearer RTP information.

Hexbreaker 2 Slot Machine

Hexbreaker is an iconic Halloween themed slot by IGT, originally created for brick and mortar casinos and re-visited for online gambling market in 2015 when Hexbreaker 2 was launched. Although one would expect blood, gore and a nightmare on elm street at the mention of Halloween, IGT decided to keep it on a softer side and not go beyond the references which are already implied by the slot's name “Hexbreaker”.

Thus, Hexbreaker introduces all the familiar symbols of bad luck and a few of their counterparts: the infamous Black Cat, Number 13, Broken Mirror, and Black Raven on one side, and Four-leaf Clover, Horse Shoe, Ladybug and White Cat on the other.

Hexbreaker features a 720 win-ways and MultiWayXtra structure, where every combination on the connecting reels is considered as valid, whereas the matching icons on the same reel will multiply the winning. The reels and rows are not arranged in the standard grid – instead, they follow the 3-4-5-4-3 pattern and the combinations are paid from left to right. Longer play intervals can produce 96.45% return to the the player rate.

The coin value is adjusted manually and the lowest wager is $0.50 per spin. On the maximum coin value, the highest possible bet is $200. Auto Play command is placed to the right, and the player can select 10, 20, 30, 40 or 50 continuous spins. Next to the Auto Play option, you will find a Wrench icon, which opens the advanced settings icon, enabling the players to adjust the Graphics quality and turn off the intro screen.

The icon with the word Jinx on it will act as a bet multiplier and increase the wager by x3, x20 or x100, depending on the number of icons that formed the combination – for the feature to be activated, at least three symbols will need to land on the adjacent reels. The slot also features the Wild icon which can only land on reels 2 – 4 and replace all other icons except for the Scatter.

During the base game, the combo of 5 Horse Shoe icons can be formed, starting the Free Spins bonus and triggering 10 extra spin rounds. If more Horse Shoe symbols land during the Free Spins, additional spins will be awarded.

The duality of the game is extremely interesting – when the Free Spins are activated, the symbols change and the slot introduces a different set of Wild and Scatter icons, with the same characteristics as the corresponding base game icons. Bonus points are awarded to Hexbreaker slot thanks to the fact that the free rounds are re-triggerable.

The betting limits may be a bit high for an average player – the minimum bet is $0.50, which will be too much for all the players who used to $0.01 coins size and the corresponding minimum wagers. On the other hand, the winning combination will be formed in decent intervals and the players are likely to finish the session with a profit. So, if you have been under a losing-streak hex so far, this slot will break it!

Even though the Hexbreaker is launched in 2015, the graphics seem extremely outdated and it will feel like playing a slot launched at the beginning of the millennium. The same goes for bonus features, which can also be described as basic. That aside, the introduction of dual set of icons (counterparts of all the bad luck omens) are a nice touch and Hexbreaker comes through where it actually counts – frequent winnings and a solid RTP.

In Vegas

lthough the classic Hexbreaker is still in some of the older casinos and plenty of off-strip joints too, but this second version seem elusive. Taking a look on google and typing in 'hex breaker 2'... it showed a list of heavy machinery for breaking up stone, sidewalk etc, lol.

Anyway, the game is pretty cool, even machinery is absolutely nothing like the original game, which was launched back int he day, when video slots were just appearing in the Vegas casinos.

This one is much more like Siberian Storm, or Sumatran Storm in the way it plays (it has a 3-4-5-4-3 screen format. Actually, the fact it is basically a hexagonal screen is very apt.

In fact, when you play, if you closed your eyes and listend to the game, you would instantly recognise the sounds made when the reels spin as that of Siberian Storm. It does have plenty to separate it from other IGT games of similar style, so is well worthwhile playing and is an excellent slot machine in it's own right.
